ZeroLandfill 2018 - Seattle

Satruday, September 29th, 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM
Miller Community Center | 330 19th Ave E,
Seattle Washington 98112

Returning once again this September, scavengers and creative minds of Seattle and afar will return to the excitement and anticipation of finding that most perfect “thing” at ZeroLandfill upcycle and repurpose materials give away event. Miller Community Center will open its doors at 9:00am on September 29th for the 7th annual FREE public Seattle ZeroLandfill community event sponsored by IIDA Northern Pacific Chapter and partners. The gym will be packed with a multitude of materials from local interior design and architecture resource libraries. You’ll find all kinds of wonderful items, from fabric bolts and memo samples, to carpet, tile, glass, metal and wood. Also empty 3 ring binder notebooks just in time for school or an organization project at home. Did we mention this is FREE? All you need to do is bring your creativity, some bags, boxes, or little red wagons and load up with treasures for you to repurpose into crafts, artwork, DIY projects, and home improvements. Our goal has always been to divert as much material from the landfill as possible and we need your help. Up-cycled materials are given new life BY YOU! Our track record over the past 6 years has been fantastic, your scavenger instincts, thoughtful creations and willingness to participate is what makes this event a success! ZeroLandfill is perfect for educators, artists, crafters and home owners looking for materials. There is truly something for everybody. Our volunteers do a darn slick job of sorting materials, but we know you like to dig in and find that extra special perfect “something” for your treasure, and feel good about reducing waste and upcycling at the same time! Returning for the fourth year, Seattle ReCreative will set up in our Kids Corner for a supervised craft project from 10:30am-12:30pm. Their mission is to promote creativity, community, and environmental stewardship through creative reuse and art education. This non-profit organization serves hundreds of children and also helps divert materials from our landfills throughout the year. Seattle ReCreative projects are a big hit and it is always fun to see what the children create from their imagination. We love seeing your project photos posted on our Facebook page. If you can dream it up, you can find what you need at ZLF, and more! Find us on Facebook ZeroLandfill Seattle, Twitter, and Instagram and share away!
