Cedar Grove Receives E3 Washington’s Green
Apple Award for Business and School
Cedar Grove is the recipient of E3 Washington’s Green Apple Award for Business and School Partnership. The company was recognized for its partnership with schools; specifically for its organics recycling educational summits, its “Seeds for Scholars” scholarship program and its constant innovation in serving the organics recycling demand in the Puget Sound region.
E3 Washington is working to fully integrate environmental, sustainability and systems learning in, and across preK-12 schools, college/universities and communities. Since 1990, E3 Washington has been the professional home for environmental and sustainability educators and their supporters.
The 2014 E3 Washington Green Apple Awards signified individuals, organizations, and programs that exemplify the E3 Washington Lead Green Goal. The "Lead Green” goal states that each and every place in our natural and built environments is a platform for powerful, interdisciplinary, real-world environmental and sustainability learning. preK-12 schools and programs are a focus area for E3 Washington, but also colleges/universities, businesses, agencies, tribes and community based organizations are all recognized as “learning laboratories” for the shifts needed to ensure the health of people, families, communities, economies and the natural environment that sustains us all.
The 2014 Green Apple Awardees will be honored at the Summer Evening Awards Gala on June 26th, at the McKinstry Innovation Center in Seattle, WA. "E3 Washington is so pleased to host this splendid annual event that recognizes these truly amazing award-winners. The future of our state is in good hands with diverse individuals and organizations such as these--representing education, the economy, and the environment--leading our way forward," said Tom Hulst, E3 Washington board president.
