County launching new website Feb. 19
to better integrate technology, county services
Snohomish County is getting an extreme makeover – of the website variety.
On Feb. 19, the county will flip the switch on a brand-new website that will give the public a faster, simpler way to access county information and services. The web address will remain the same – www.snoco.org – but users will notice a dramatically improved county web experience.
"Our existing website doesn’t meet the needs of county residents,” said Executive John Lovick. "We have an increasingly tech-savvy population, and our website needs to reflect our commitment to engaging with the public and providing them a clear way to find the information they need.”
The current website was created in 2003 and served as an upgrade to the county’s first website, published in 1997.
Beyond its immediate visual appeal, the new website is easier for county staff to update and manage. Users will have simpler access to event calendars, news releases and county feature stories. A new "How Do I” menu option will make applying for building permits, searching for property information and finding legal resources more straightforward. The new website also features four translation options so native speakers can use the site in their own language.
"An 11-year-old website is ancient by technology standards,” said David Stroble, Information Services project manager for the new site. "We needed to be innovative and find new, better ways to connect with the public. We’re thrilled to finally have a 21st-century web platform that meets the expectations of 21st-century users.”
The county worked with website provider Civic Plus to create the new website and train staff. For more information about the new site, please contact Bronlea Mishler at 425-388-3050. To learn more about Civic Plus, visit www.civicplus.com
