PRESENTERS:

  Dave Claugus | Owner and Vice President, Pioneer Recycling
Dave Claugus has worked in many aspects of the recycling industry including residential buyback, wastepaper collection & processing, shredding, e-waste collection and processing, composting and comingled single-stream processing over the past 35 years. He is currently an owner and Vice-President for Pioneer Recycling which operates MRF’s in Tacoma, WA and Portland, Oregon. 

   Minal Mistry | Natural Resource Specialist ,  Oregon Dept. of  Environmental Quality (OR DEQ)
In his current role with the Oregon DEQ Minal Mistry works with a wide range of entities to implement the 2050 Vision for Materials Management strategies. His primary focus is on building partnerships to help businesses produce and consume materials in more sustainable ways. Minal has experience in multiple industries including having created a rapid life cycle modeling tool for packaging designs, and helping companies include environmental impact analysis into product and package design.

  
 Wendy Ramsey |  Small Business Marketing Manager, Northwest District, UPS
Wendy Ramsey is the Small Business Marketing Manager for the Northwest District at UPS. Her territory covers 6 states: Alaska, Washington, Oregon, Idaho, Montana and Wyoming. Wendy has been with United Parcel Service for almost 25 years and has expertise in Business Development, Pricing, Finance and Marketing. During her time with Finance, she planned and managed over a billion dollar budget. Now in Marketing, Wendy enjoys her job the most because she gets to help small business owners every day. 
 
 James Moody | Quality Assurance Manager, WestRock
James Moody has been the Quality Assurance Manager at the WestRock mill in Tacoma, WA since October 2014. He serves as the primary technical resource for the mill’s customers, and is also responsible for the ongoing growth of the mill’s quality management system. James earned his bachelor’s degree in Paper Science and Engineering from the University of Washington in 1999, and has since filled various technical roles throughout the containerboard and packaging industry. He has been an active member of the Fibrebox Association’s Technical Committee, was a past Officer in TAPPI’s Corrugated Board Technical Service Committee, and has served as past Chair of TAPPI’s Fiberboard Shipping Container Testing Committee. James lives in Gig Harbor, WA with this wife, Emily, and his three children: Alexander 11, Kira 9, and Lucas 2.

   Amity Lumper | Managing Partner, Cascadia Consulting Group
Amity Lumper is a Managing Partner and Director of Cascadia’s Recycling and Materials Management practice. With nearly 20 years of experience in the waste management industry, she has managed a university campus collection program, led local and state waste characterization studies across the US, and now focuses on developing innovative programs with municipal and corporate clients and their recycling service providers. Selected clients include Waste Management, Republic Services, Alameda County Waste Management Authority, VF Corporation, UC Berkeley, Costco, and Sea-Tac Airport. Amity specializes in delivering research, behavior change, and innovative technology solutions that drive toward more sustainable materials management. She holds an M.S. in Strategic Leadership towards Sustainability from the Blekinge Institute of Technology in Sweden.


   Christine Duffy  | Associate, Cascadia Consulting Group
Christine Duffy specializes in community outreach, education, and behavior change. Over the past three years, Christine has provided in-person conservation and pollution prevention education to thousands of residents and business owners in Washington State. Christine is an advocate for the use of technology in the field and uses her hands-on field experience to inform tools that effectively capture both qualitative and quantitative data for clients.

Prior to joining Cascadia, Christine spent two years in Thailand as a Peace Corps Volunteer, where she used community marketing strategies and non-traditional education tools to provide waste and recycling education to local municipalities, community leaders, and villagers.

 
 Terese Kietzer  |  Senior Manager  of Sustainability Services, Amazon
Terese Kietzer is the senior manager of the Sustainability Services team for Amazon worldwide. Utilizing Amazon’s scale, speed and innovation the team focuses on key social and environmental initiatives across all of Amazon’s business areas globally. Areas of focus for the team are waste minimization, conflict minerals, stakeholder engagement and sustainability strategy and measurement. Terese has over 11 years of experience at Amazon previously working in packaging, digital goods, and operations.


   Dr. Kim Houchens | World Wide Director of Customer Packaging Experience, Amazon 
 Dr. Kim Houchens is the World Wide Director of Customer Packaging Experience (CPEX) in the Sustainability organization at Amazon, where she leads the team focused on reinventing packaging for the e-commerce marketplace. Prior to joining Amazon, Kim had 20 years of success leading packaging R&D for Owens-Illinois and Amcor, and analytics systems for Wal-Mart.
