Recycled Arts Show, Seattle – 2014
We will not be hosting our own show in Bellingham this year, and will be sponsoring the RARE Recycled Arts Show & Expo instead
This form (link at bottom of this page) is for both Art & Functional Design. Please take the time to fully read and complete this application. Only complete submissions will be accepted. We highly prefer that you use our web form, but printed versions are acceptable. Incomplete applications will not be considered.
Recycled Art Definition:
Submitted work may be reasonably considered "recycled art” if it is entirely, or primarily (at least 75%), composed of material(s) that would have otherwise been disposed into the waste streams. The jury will focus attention on craftsmanship, materials use and creativity.
Recycled art includes collage, assemblages, wall hangings, sculpture and other 2 or 3-dimensional artwork.
Functional designs includes pieces that serve a practical function in a household, business or outdoor setting (For example, furniture, light fixtures, planters, bike racks, etc). This includes items that fall into the realm of industrial design.
Online application and photos must be completed by no later than 11:59 P.M., Saturday, 2/15/2014. Send print versions to The RE Store – 1440 N.W. 52nd Street, Seattle, WA 98107 – postmarked by 2/15/2014. Selected artists will be notified within two weeks via email and telephone.
There is a $10 fee for this submission, which includes up to three (3) submitted works. Please submit your fee via our online donation page. Be sure to indicate that this is for the Recycled Arts Show in the Additional Information field on our secure online site.
Complete the online Artist Submission Form (link at bottom of the page) including Entry Descriptions for up to three individual pieces. Artist’s statements about the individual pieces, the work in general, or the concept of recycled art are welcomed, but not required.
Please submit one to three photos per entry via the online submission form.
Photos must be sufficient size to view details in .jpg format – a minimum of 18 inches on one side for all digital submissions and 5 x 7 in high resolution print.
Use the following naming convention for your digital images: artistsname-title.jpg
Please include a self-addressed, stamped envelope to return photos/disk if desired.
Applications are only being accepted from residents of Washington State, Oregon, Idaho, and B.C., Canada. Consideration will be given to submissions of all types and sizes. If you require space for a large-scale piece or have special installation needs, note that in the application for the jury and gallery to consider.
Delivery of Artwork:
Artwork selected for the show must be delivered to Blowing Sands Glass Gallery on Wednesday-Thursday, April 9th–10th, 2014, between the hours of 11 AM and 5 PM.
Pieces will be available for pickup the week after the show at Blowing Sands Glass Gallery during gallery hours on May 7th – 8th, 2014, between the hours of 11 AM and 5 PM.
Pieces will be "for sale” during the show. You are responsible for providing us with the price for your piece. You may state "Not For Sale” if you do not wish to sell your art. All sales will pay a 40 percent commission to the gallery from which they are sold. Pieces must remain on display for the entire length of the show. We are happy to keep artists’ cards or brochures on-hand during the event.

The exhibition will be held at Blowing Sands Gallery in Ballard from April 12th – May 6th, 2014. Blowing Sands Gallery is open from Tuesday – Friday, 11 A.M – 5 P.M., Saturday from 10 A.M. – 6 P.M., Sunday from noon to 5 P.M. An opening reception will be held Saturday April 12th during the Ballard Artwalk.
Artist is responsible for shipping and insurance both ways
Artwork must be ready to hang and display
Artist agrees to allow accepted work to remain with the exhibit until the close of show
Artist retains all copyright on work
Artist agrees, upon a sale, to a 40% commission to the gallery hosting the piece
The RE Store requests permission to use submitted photographs of work for the purpose of documentation, education and publicity. Refer to application below.
