November 21st

This year marks the 10th anniversary of the Snohomish County "Focus on Farming” conference. With two nationally known keynote addresses, 24 workshop classes under six industry tracks and a 17,000 square foot trade show it has something for everyone.

This year’s Focus on Farming conference will provide a unique opportunity to not only experience internationally acclaimed farmer Will Allen as the morning keynote address but a rare opportunity to spend the entire day learning from him in four continuous workshop sessions.

Will Allen, Founder and CEO of "Growing Power” will be presenting four workshop sessions that will motivate and inspire you. These classes include:

·         Soil Building in the City - Vermicomposting

·         Aquaponics - The Integrated Systems of Fish and Produce

·         Intense Production Methods - Smart Season Extension

·         Crops Do Include People - Creating Jobs

Allen, a former professional basketball player, is widely considered the leading authority on urban agriculture. He received a MacArthur Genius Grant in 2008 for his farming work, and in February 2010, was invited to participate in Michelle Obama’s "Let’s Move!” campaign at the White House, and in May 2010, TIME magazine named him one of the world’s 100 most influential people.

This year’s Focus on Farming conference runs from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 21, at Comcast Arena in Everett. Preregistration is open now at www.focusonfarming.com. For more information, contact Linda Neunzig at 425-388-7170 or linda.neunzig@snoco.org.
